Just tried to follow a tutorial to sculpt/model a low-poly pine tree to possibly use in the background.

Wasn't good. :nope:
REALLY wasn't good.

Time to merge all the objects together, remesh and start sculpting.... maybe.

It seems that the remesh option sticks his fingers together unless I choose a really detailed voxel value that results in over two million vertices. Which I obviously don't want. :eyeroll:
Maybe I should just delete the fingers and then go back to the snake hook method for the hands.

Just spent an hour struggling to sculpt a yeti. Tried a high resolution remesh followed by decimate. The fingers stayed separate but the resulting topology was appalling. I carried on trying to shape the form then discovered that I could space the vertices more evenly by enabling the Dyntopo option. This seemed much better but I ended up with a resolution that was a little too low but that didn't matter because the polygon density was much smoother so all I had to do now was a simple subdivide and then....
"Blender is not responding." :rage:

Could have spent that hour playing a game or watching an episode of something. :(

EDIT: And while looking something up on the internet I discovered that they released Blender 3.0 the other day...

If I could understand Youtubers who talk too fast then I would now know if it had any new features that might help me.

You know you can change the speed of youtube videos? :dumb:

Edit: I just tried setting it to 0.75 and he sounds.... perfectly normal

I wonder if these people live their whole lives at this speed. :hmm:
I'd better click subscribe to find out.

A bald, lumpy yeti has begun to appear.

Using Dyntopo does make the lumpiness worse but at least I can control the number of polygons. I wonder if the Topology Rake function in the newer versions might help me. :hmm:
And I need some reference for feet.

And I need some reference for feet.

You might find some at the end of your legs...

Are you suggesting that I have fat, hairy, yeti feet??

*looks at feet*

You didn't mention needing fat hairy references....

Done some feet and a face....

Not quite sure about that head design though. :hmm:
Wasn't quite sure if it should look human-ish or more like a primate or... like something else. :dumb:
Maybe I'll just pretend it's another Orc.
I definitely want to keep the short legs so that he has that gorilla-like balance to whatever pose I can get out of it but I think I'd like some horns, maybe of the curly ram/goat type. And of course he'll need some hair. Much hair.
Not sure how that's gonna work ("Slowly", says my PC) or how much of the body will show through or what kind of texture/colouring that body will need. It's all a mystery to me.
