You have to comb him? Does he bite?

Unless you want him to have one big Afro then yes. You really do have to comb, cut and groom. :confident:

Yeti Afro on the head is definitely cool.
Afro all over the body is not.
That just looks like a big fluffy blob like something from Monsters Inc. But much worse!

I did set up the texture to pick up vertex colours and also added an intercept to add a gradient along the strand. but it still doesn't look better; just different.
Plus I haven't quite worked out what kind of dark/light pattern works best.

The biggest issue that's bugging me is the overall shape. It doesn't seem to follow the forms that I've sculpted beneath and just ends up looking like an average fat guy wearing one of those cheap monkey suits at a fancy dress party. :)
It's probably a grooming issue and something that just needs more patience than I have. Perhaps the body hairs need to be shorter? Or maybe I should add more control hairs and reduce the number of children? :hmm:

I don't know about this. It's not going as I'd hoped. :dunno:

I've added some horns and textured his body with vertex colours (may add that bumpy noise stuff later) and here he is bald...

And for the hairs I'm letting it pick up some skin tones and then brightening it (currently via a Colour Dodge mix node) with a separate vertex colour layer of patchy pale blues...

I've also varied the length and coverage but it's still looking like a man-in-a-monkey-suit to me.

EDIT: And here's an attempt at using a low res environment texture for the lighting along with that previous snowy plane (but I did have to add a dull sun to stop it looking less bad. :eyeroll:)

Tried to add teeth.
A full set with gums too!
Looked absolutely ridiculous.
Yeti may just keep his mouth shut in future. ;)

Needs an eye next. :aha:

And Memo To Self: Do write down all the material settings for the transparent bit of the eyes cos it always takes me sooooooo long to get it right every... single... TIME! :pout:

Can material settings be saved as a kind of prefab thingy?

Edit: Or copied from one file to another...
