Does the game allow normal maps too or are you limited to ordinary texture maps?

The game has some normal maps but when I've played around with them it's not worked...

Yeah, that sounds familiar.

After my poor experiences with those leather straps I've been playing about with downloadable textures from ambientCG.com and the bump/normal options of "proper" textures are a little more complicated than the sloppy efforts I was using.

Haven't tried a Yeti yet(i).
But I have been experimenting creating snow textures/materials.
A snowy cube....

And a snowy man!    :woohoo:

Unfortunately his hands look like I've drawn them on afterwards...

...but I haven't. :dumb:

However I have fixed the different scales of the noise texture between the ground and the snowman. Don't know why they were different first time cos it's the same material. Maybe something to do with the "Object" co-ordinate mapping option? :hmm:
And I thought I'd check out how it looked now with HDR lighting instead of finding out that it doesn't work much later like I did with the Orc. Also need to work out how to fade the ground plane with a mist cos that cutoff point is far too harsh when you're not using area lights.

EDIT: And volume scatter creates some super weird effects. But not the ones I want.

Another long boring video released yesterday that is relevant to recent discussion   I'll post it here so you can not watch it.

Although unrelated to any recent discussions, in my impatient moments when not watching long videos I do quite like the short little tips on the  Blender Secrets Channel.

I've blocked in some body parts for my Yeti by using lots (and lots) of separate UV Spheres. It does give a bit more control than just sculpting from one sphere and using the Snake Hook to pull out all the limbs but it is a lot slower.

Time to merge all the objects together, remesh and start sculpting.... maybe.
