These studies are hard but I'm learning quite a lot from them. Will put them into practice soon with a focus on design instead.

Intro to 3 point perspective.

Determining the diagonal vanishing point for greater accuracy in drawing boxes.

Determining the cast shadows from local light.

Same thing but on x axis. This was very hard to figure out.

Finally figured out how to place shadow in local light on a tilted box that's tilted on the y axis.

How to properly offset wheels and divide tread properly. These will be a precursor to my next piece.

Tread divide fail.

Everyone can improve with perspective. It's definitely not my strong suite. Great job.

Thanks Jessie! Perspective is definitely important for the stuff I draw. More studies! Working on a new electrical dynamo piece but it's too rough to show.

Anatomy studies.

Some ellipse freehand practice.

Using the ellipse to find tangents for a rotated box.

Rotating a box on top that has the same dimensions as the one below while in perspective.

Turning the horizon 180 to build a sense of vertigo.

More studies! Really feel like I'm improving a lot here. Applying tilt in 3 point perspective.

How every face of a cube has a minor axis that the ellipse must adhere to.

Complex shadows in direct light.

Freehand xyz forms.

How to cast shadows on the ground plane and object itself. The shadows must match the form of the object that is cast upon.

Oh wow :woohoo:

Things I won't ever be able to understand but it looks really impressing :)

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.

Cherry!!! What an awesome comment!!! haha!

It does look interesting all these lines and notations. Would be good to see it put into practice in some drawings and paintings too.

Everything's on the right!!!

It's like driving abroad!

@Cherry Thanks! I didn't think studies would interesting to anyone so thanks for the compliments!
@Dom Thanks! My next piece will be an electrical generating engine room so I'll get lots of opportunities to apply the the theory.

Here I learned how to locate the new vp for an object that's diagonal or turned 45 to the original object.

Here I learned an awesome little trick for locating new vps by using existing receding lines as the benchmarks for a grid.

Here I learned how to rotate an object in 1 point perspective while maintaining the same proportions in perspective.

How 3 point perspective changes the appearance of cast shadows.

Using that vp locating trick again but for all axis, both vertically and horizontally.

Doing cast shadows for curved objects in direct light and local light.

How cast shadows differ for different wing tips.

How to know when you have an oval or ellipse in perspective.

How to get true ellipses in perspective and not ovals.

How to mirror different wing tips and other methods of getting the same result.
