Sorry for the double post above- I kept getting spam messages the other day and didn’t think the first one had posted (they’re very entertaining spam messages though and I was a little freaked out when they started calling me Dave, which is part of my email address even though my actual name is Martin).
As far as RP1 goes (at least the movie) I always thought the apathy the characters show to some of those weightier themes was part of the commentary on the type of society they lived in as opposed to a failure in the writing.
Now I really need to read the first book to find out.

HAL was being over zealous and thought it was spam, I unspammified them after he emailed me without realising you had reposted. Normally I delete the duplicates if that happens but I wasn't paying attention :dumb:

(HAL calls everyone Dave)

Many thanks for unspammifying me. I never liked spam of either kind.
While we’re on the subject (kind of) I only recently found out that HAL was a poke at IBM by Arthur C Clarke.
Sometimes these things make me feel extremely dense. Lol.

I know right? These things make me question my interpretation of movies and books! Maybe there was more to Starship Troopers than just being an action film and maybe Robocop was more than a story about some poor cop with an awful catchphrase.
