If you want to get rid of them then you can sell them to any merchant or deconstruct them at the station. If they're iron/steel armour then find the Blacksmithing Station and if they're homespun/linen/leather/hide then you'll need a Clothing Station.
Once there you'll be able to deconstruct them and maybe get some resources back or if there's a magnifying glass next to them in the inventory, you'll be able to research the trait that they have.
So when you're looking on the map it's not just the store or merchant you're looking for, you need to find the blacksmithing/clothing "stations" and not the outfit station either as that's for dyeing and changing the appearance of things.
It's all a bit too complicated.

It is definitely a bit too complicated.
And when it comes to "monsters" or enemies, how do you know what level they are??? I've no idea what to avoid and what I can handle. But I definitely cannot handle five at a time, whatever they are

When you're in an area where everyone's doing the daily crafting jobs the stations are usually packed with five or six people huddled around the tables.
If I remember rightly the tabs on all the stations are: Refining Materials, Construction, Deconstruction, Research and then the final one is for blueprints/diagrams for furniture stuff but that will be empty if you don't have any yet.

When you do get around to making something you can ignore the trait section but do make sure you have a style material for each item you want to create (did you mention you were a wood elf? If so then you'll need bone, if not it'll be something different.) You can buy it from the merchant next to the station for 15 gold. It took me a while to work this out and it was quite frustrating.

I still haven't joined a player guild cos I'd only really want it for trading and some of them seem to come with other commitments in terms of fees and expectations and I have no interest teaming up with them in public dungeons and PvP battles so I've left that alone but even if you haven't joined you can still buy from any of the traders, you just can't sell or use the guild bank options, whatever they are.
And when you buy from a guild trader the goods come as attachments to the player mail from whoever is selling so you have to remember to go claim them from your inbox.
