When it comes to horses I've given up on not cheating. I now resurrect them when I need to. But I also tend to wait longer before I bother getting a first horse. Eventually it really helps with loot hauling, though....

I would have just reloaded except for the fact that I had automatically hit F5 and would have had to reload a much earlier save from before killing the two dragons and finding a load of loot. Stupid dumb idiot Frost was instantly replaced with small bug dude, which I can't ride, but who can at least carry some stuff. Stupid dumb idiot dumb suicidal moron Frost  who managed to get into a fight despite being parked miles away from the fight, because he found the one guy who happened to stay behind at his camp instead of rushing us when my unstealthy follower just started pinging arrows everywhere 

None of my six horses have ever died.

Hello again, Giblets.
I know I haven't talked to you to do your quest despite the fact that you always run to me and follow me around but I will eventually. Honest. But not yet. However I'd love it if you'd show me exactly where the clothing station is in Daggerfall. Yes, the map says it's around here somewhere and I have already been there three times on previous days but it's a big place and I keep forgetting where it is.

 

I walked around and around for a little while longer, so long that I think even the players were getting sick of me doing laps of the area. One woman who I walked past several times threw some magic flowers at me at one point.
Anyway I found the clothing station in the end. It was in that building behind me which is helpfully labelled as... Metalworks.
Of course there's a blacksmithing station in there as well but you don't expect the clothing stuff to be there too.

And you know how NPCs can sometimes get stuck and do strange stuff in Skyrim?
Well here I found another player who seemed to be stuck floating above some steps.
 
He was stuck there levitating for ages.
Excuse me, sir, have you crashed?
I wonder if he was trying to quit the game while in mid air from jumping.
It looked funny anyway.

Also... soooo many duels today. So many.
It was one of the daily endeavours to complete two of them. I didn't bother with that of course, but I did get a little sick of walking through other people's fights.

You sure that horse mod of yours doesn't make the horses essential?

I think it does have the option to do that in the settings but I've never turned it on. They mostly seem to be super cowardly and run far away whenever they sense the possible suggestion of a fight.
Except Frost of course.
That's the only one that has ever got involved in any action.

Maybe they're set to run away then, because in my experience they don't do that until their health is already low. or something. Usually they attack first. I was going to suggest they carried too much to be able to fight but then they shouldn't be able to run, either....

I would guess that the mod does some funky things to get around the fact that you would normally only have one horse following you. So they are maybe not true followers like Frost is, or maybe they use the behaviour of other animals in the game like the deer that run away from danger. 

All the followers I've had (horses, dogs, bugs) have instantly attacked anything in range. It makes being a stealthy pointy eared thief very hard sometimes. You plan to sneak into range and ambush your enemies, but before you can your pointy eared buddy has already started pinging them with arrows and your horse has charged in to headbut them to his or their deaths. 

It's hard being a leader...
