I seem to use my fists far too much. Even when I don't want to.
Which reminds me... In ESO the other day I ended up having one of those Geralt-style fights when he puts his sword away. Except it was my fault this time. When sneaking about in that disguise I had unequipped my big axe in order to blend in better and forgot about it. Then two days later I was out harvesting some plants and got caught out by a random bad guy and had nothing in my hand to swing at him. I don't have any hot keys for weapons in that game and cos it's an MMO it doesn't pause in the inventory so I was getting hacked to death while failing to select a weapon in the interface. In the end I panicked and backed away and dodge-rolled myself off a ledge.

And of course there are bards in those inns too with a different set of songs. I often find myself humming along to "Red Diamond" whilst cooking chicken in The Watch House.

I decided to get back to my first character, the one stuck on Solstheim. Then I decided that she would go from Raven Rock to that archaeological dig. But first she had to sell stuff and empty her backpack as much as possible. Then there was a dragon attack. Then she had to sell off/clear out the dragon loot. Then there was... something else. I can't even remember. But she was back at square one again. Then I finally got to the dig site and realised I had finished everything except the boss fight. Probably for a reason. Tried anyway, used up all my health potions, a good number of poisons, quite a bit of food and one level up and got the boss guy to like 5-10 % of his health, and then he killed me. So I obviously need to be fireproof. I went back to Raven Rock, rummaged through my stuff and realised I had one piece of armour with fire protection. No filled soul gems, no soultrap skills and no enchanting skills to speak of either. What the heck did this character do all her life??? I upped my enchanting skills at the guy in the mushroom tower, and got some filled gems from a merchant, but I still haven't got anything to learn the enchantments I need, from.

From what I have read, Malkoran can indeed kill Lydia (and presumably any other follower in that case... RIP Rayya ). On both occasions that I have been through that golf ball quest, the fight has been so chaotic at the end that it's pretty difficult to see who is doing what to whom. Most of the time it's a case of trying not be un-alived myself as it seems to be a pretty tough fight.

I pretty much only remember the pile of corpses in the last room. I've forgotten Malkoran again... *tries to recall*

Poor guy. He's not made any sort of impression on me at all... *tries some more*

You barely see him due to the mass of ghosty wraithy things attacking you, and he looks like a generic wizardy bloke firing icy blasts or something at you, until he dies and turns into a ghosty wraithy thing and annihilates everyone in his path 

Non-essential followers can be killed by any "area" attacks like fireballs, frost, lightning etc. Followers that are low on health are no longer directly targeted but if they happen to be in one of those areas then...
