They all have weird names. Well, I don't know if ALL of them do because I probably haven't met all of them yet. But one of them is Valgus. Like Hallux valgus. (A foot problem, if you didn't know.) One's called Cassock. He wears a... well, robe.

One is a terrible gossip named Nythriel who claims she's not a Thalmor spy, because that's her twin sister Mythriel, whom I've never seen. :paranoid:

Val, do you know if the mods (data folder) can just be copied over when one reinstalls Skyrim on a new computer or if each mod has to be reinstalled? I'm guessing the latter. Also guessing I'll opt not to reinstall some stuff and that I might end up having to recreate/restart all my characters from zero. Maybe I'll even manage to do so one at a time instead of 7 at a time :P

Not that I have even ordered a new computer yet. But I'm looking over modding advice and such. I intended to find more info on how to get SSEedit to work, but I got side-tracked as usual. I have now managed to get it to find that ini file, and it opened a couple of info "boards" before loading a list of my installed mods with a greyed out "load" button at the top of the page. None of the files can actually be loaded and if I close the list the whole program shuts down, so I have no idea what to do/where to go from here... :dunno:

Edit: Never mind, I'm making a loooong list of what to think of and what to do (or not to do) for a new installation... Everyone keeps writing these super long pages about how it all works and saying you have to read everything or things will get messed up and it bugs me that you need to get a f*ing degree in modding to even just USE mods. But also that none of them seem to be able to be short and concise in what they write. :stare:
(I've done several of the don'ts by now and so far it works anyway but all these guides warn how issues might occur later so, I guess doing everything from scratch and the right way, next time, would be advisable...)

Edit2 - I have now given up on the overly long guide on how to mod at all, which was a few years old anyway and completely oblivious to GOG issues, and moved on to the SSEEdit guide, and apparently I was supposed to clock "ok" at the bottom of the window, not "load" at the top. :dumb:

:argh: I think my head will explode

Edit: It seems I can now auto-clean mods... But what I should do or how, when something's just a bit off or there's a spelling error or whatnot... Maybe that'll have to wait for another day....

At the very least you'll have to create a list of what you've done so that you can reinstall again. Your account at Nexus mods will show everything you've downloaded and the mod organiser that you use may also have a folder that backs up all the installed mods.
If you don't have the exact setup and load order you will have issues with all your save games. There have been times when I've had problems with that and I don't have nearly as many mods as you have. :)
You'll also have to keep track of the ones that you've modified yourself. Always remember those tomatoes. :stare:

I still don't know much about TESEdit/SSEEdit. I only used it once and I needed to follow a tutorial for that.

I've heard they're reforming the Dawnguard, vampire hunters. I hope that helps.

Thanks Banj, very helpful...

And Val, I'm not sure I even want all the mods I have :P But I'm thinking I'll try changes and if the games break I'll go with new ones. I recently found where Wrye Bash actually saves all the zip files so yes, I can get them from there rather than redownload everything. As for the tomatoes that was just texture files so reinstalling that mod would replace my edits with the original edits anyway. Plus I did get that other tomato mod later, remember? What? You don't keep track of my mods???

Anyway I'm thinking I'll probably leave out some of the player home ones, and those shouldn't break anything - although if I stored anything somewhere that storage would be lost too. But I don't think I stored anything in the ones I don't care for. Most of them are just more than needed... Though I guess one or two of my characters might want a fancy home at some point. But I can get them at that point, when and if I know what I want, anyway....

But yup I intend to make a list of the mods I want to keep and their load order.
