Oh wait, I keep getting Windhelm and what''s the other one....? Winterhold, wrong. I didn't get a house in Winterhold. I also still don't have a house in Windhelm, even though I did that quest eventually. I think you probably do have to join the stormcloaks.

There isn't even a carriage in Winterhold!
You can ride to get there but you always have to walk away.

If you BUY a horse instead of steal it you can ride away. Or you you can fast travel

I had a dog. Until the dog completely disappeared for no reason. The interface is really starting to annoy me with the way it looks like the option you want is highlighted but actually something else is highlighted instead. The shouts keep deselecting themselves. The game still keeps minimizing itself. I am stuck in Solstheim because I am over encumbered and if you try to get passage aboard the ship back the Skyrim the captain takes the 250 gold and then you reappear on the Solstheim dock. The interface is getting really annoying. I had a dog until I didn't. I am slow and have to walk slowly around the entire island. Traders in Morrowind have never had enough money to actually buy anything. Despite investing skill points in my armour weighing nothing I am actually more encumbered now than I was before due to the stupid vampirism that reduced all my stats. I want to go home and ride my Horse. Balls.




EDIT - And to get past the gate you have to open in order to get out of a certain location you are required to use controls I didn't even know existed and aren't mentioned anywhere in the game settings. 

Oh dear...

Apart from the interface choosing to answer other questions than the ones I am trying to ask, I don't recognise anything much of that... Can you drop some stuff off in one of those urns and then take the ship back? Or fast travel even? I never got around to trying. I also don't know how long the trip takes so I don't know if one can be back in time before those urns reset. And I must not have been to that particular location.... or if I have it is entirely forgotten.

Can't fast travel when over-encumbered. Can't even take a carriage on the mainland.

Internet suggests that Abandoned Lodge is a safe storage location.

Edit: And if you do get completely stuck there you could resort to trying the  coc console command  to teleport yourself somewhere else.

My suggestion was that he'd store some loot so he wasn't over encumbered and then fast travelled....

The abandoned lodge, was that the house just outside the main town? or was that an abandoned farm...?
