As you know, I'm a big fan of slowly walking everywhere (in my story I think I've only fast travelled twice via the map; once to avoid a nasty fort early on and once in the Mage's College story where a character urges you to get somewhere "immediately!", but I do seem to take carriages more and more) so perhaps that's the reason why.
It's probably to do with the way that the in-game time advances forward when you travel that way.

*takes a shot*
Dragon acts funny. Dragon doesn't really act at all. Dragon looks dead.
Did it crash to the ground after being shot out of the sky?
It's very satisfying when that happens, unless there isn't a good place for it to land. On those occasions it usually flies around a little bit longer looking for a good place to die.

But now I'm traversing some mountains and I lost Lydia somewhere along the way, and I came across a Khajit caravan, I think, who are all cowering in the grass due to what I think is a troll running back and forth along the length of their spread out caravan. And I have all my troll slaying stuff in a bedside table at home.
(I should mention that said troll slaying stuff has never been used to actually slay a troll, I just figured those particular items would be a bit more useful than my usual weapon of choice)

I then tried to find a camp and a bedroll but instead I found an angry bear (which killed me fast) , reloaded and found a small mining "town" of three houses and a watch tower. The guards were dead
But now I'm stopping for the night, certain to once again dream of lists of Skyrim loot.

I found the hammers a bit slow and heavy so greatswords were my thing. Especially after that early rescue quest allowed me to get some Elven loot. That golden greatsword was forever in my hands until I got the Ebony stuff.
These days I try to level up my one handed skill with an axe/shield combo and I only learned about the block/stun shield move far too late in the game.
But if I ever get into a tricky fight, that Ebony Blade comes back out of the inventory.

Anyway, I'm off now because I've got some goodies for Ysolda again, I'll see if I can catch her in time for a late night drink at the Bannered Mare.
Yes, I've got all that stuff you need and you're right, it is a fine day with me around. But look at my hat!!
That's the most important thing.
Style.
