You really do know how to paint hair!
As usual her head seems large though - it's almost the same size as her entire torso. Still, I don't think that's a problem if you're willing to make her cute and a bit "cartoonish". If you're going for realism, you might need to check her proportions, though, and maybe not just the head. I think her torso might be a bit short as well. But she's looking cute so far, so I rather hope you keep her that way!

Thanks Charlotte.

I have resized her noggin, so now it may make more sense. I have also reduced the size of her hair, as the previous size looked stupid on the smaller head.

In addition I have worked her face up a bit. It felt good to do it too, as I have been trained by this forum to not focus on the detail until I get all the basics down. After resizing her head, I felt that the basics were all there and so zoomed to 100% and worked some detail into the face. Ace!

Though... it seems like you can't really see it. It looked much better on the larger screen I was working on! Oh well....

The head definitely looks better scaled down, and agree with Charlotte on the hair work too.

Did you do one like this before? The pose looks quite familiar?

I was searching through some old files and came across an image from years ago, when I first joined IFX and started digital painting. It was for a challenge called farseer. I was reasonably happy with what I did back then, but thought I might like to take another stab at it using what I have learned since then.

Yup :P

Done a bit more and added a background.

Is the background working?

Hey Dom, her face is looking really good :cheer My eyes jumped right there, nice focal point and I didn't notice anything off. The background is great so far, maybe blur it a bit to bring more focus to the girl.

BLove it Dom, the perspective is spot on, I would just trim a bit from her farthest forearm, it looks a bit bulbous at the minute, and maybe bring her hair down, it looks a bit like a wig, but looking fantastic otherwise

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I did a little bit of work on the composition (levelled her arm a little) and I also played around with closing her eyes. What do you think? Eyes open, or eyes shut?

I will get to the changes you mentioned as soon as I can Kaz. Well observed!

.... But then I forgot to post up the image! Rectified now!
