Here is my suggestion to the engine room. Right now it looks a bit tedious because each item is shaded individually. I think your design is great but I would apply a single value to everything as the first step, then pick a light source and the direction of the light, then just stick to 5 values when you shade them.

Thanks Yian! That's what I had in mind but it's involving quite a bit of juggling with my layers between local values and light sources. Also I understand it looks too busy but in the end it would be easier to blur things out. Thanks for the critique!

More gesture studies. Trying to feel the pose rather than draw the contours. Sort of difficult since that's my typical approach to drawings non organic stuff ie cars.







Color study. These are more like notes for me.

Update on my engine room. Still lots to do. I understand that there are a lot of similar values but they help decrease the contrast of the background.

I like the angled blades on the edge of that central disk/turbine. That must have been really hard to get right!
