Thanks Dave!

Study on how to rotate objects using the existing grid. I learned that there is no way to do it, you have to use ellipses and best guess.

I got this book on London architecture and I'm a big fan of art nouveau. So to improve my visual library and learn new forms I'll be doing these quick sketches of things I like, such as architecture, animals etc. I'll be changing the perspective slightly to ensure I apply my learning instead of simply copying.

Hey Crankshaft
Love all the studies you've been doing on perspective. but the ellipses on the turbine (?) on the far left of the picture don't seem to be following the same perspective as the main structure they are part of. or the one in the middle as well. the far right feels fine but the other two feel a bit of to me. (I'm talking about the ellipses surrounded by the blue lines).
Just a thought. Complicated piece. Keep going!

You're got a sharp eye Mikey! I took artistic license and did that on purpose hoping no one would notice! hehe :P I had a design problem where if I moved that ellipse in line it would require me to re do the entire center piece so I left it as is. Also when the piece is rendered that problem should be less apparent.

Studies on ellipses and how they can create planes of varying convergence.

Gesture studies. I know there are a lot of problems but I'm still practicing. I'm trying to employ what Proko said, use CSIs as your only lines.

Nice to see some values going into the engine room. Can't wait to see the lighting and rendering!

Keep working at those anatomy studies but be careful about pushing the limbs too far. Some of the joints seem to break apart with the more extreme poses. Try to keep the soft flowing curves through the arms amd legs as you would in a gesture study.

Thanks Valence! I'm trying to combine both gesture and studies from the loomis book but it can be a clash between the two. I just need to keep practicing.

Sketches. The goal here is to build my visual library, learn new forms, be more fluid and loose, and increase my speed while applying my knowledge. Accuracy isn't too important.

Random cannon. No reference, just from imagination.

Useless sketch that I did in a few minutes. Other sketches will be more refined.

Anatomy/gesture studies. Trying to feel the pose and focus on just flowing lines, no muscles or numerous curves. It'll be a long journey.

Value and light studies. More to come.

Gesture studies. Watching some proko videos.
