The Trailer Park

Now watching Dampyr which I expected to be kind of cornier and worse than it is, even if I find it odd that everyone in the Balkans are speaking fluent English (albeit with varying degrees of accents). It takes place during the war(s?) in the 90ies, and I normally hate war settings but it kind of works even if the vampires all look like punks. Or professor Snape. But at least it's more like what I expect from a horror movie than the previous one.

Edit; And it ends with one of those little snippets that promise a continuation, but from what I understand it was a rather low budget thing and I think it's unlikely for a second movie to be made... Either way, the ending makes the whole thing feel like a prequel...  

Today watching The Predator (not the original, but the one Netflix showed me as soon as I went there...)
and at a school they have a meeting, with a sign saying welcome all parents and STDS

I'm guessing STD isn't what I think it is, in this case...

I haven't stopped yet. I thought two predators were fighting in the beginning (causing one of them to crash land on earth) but it seems all their gear is interconnected and can control other gear which seems very impractical if you don't get along...

Edit: and it's both incomprehensible and kind of funny. I mean, someone tells female scientist to not let alien get away and she mumbles "not my space animal" - not sure if she means she won't let it get away but I took it to mean it wasn't her problem. I guess she meant it was HER animal, because she still went after it. And then shot herself in the foot with a tranq.  

This whole Hollywood "next step in the evolutionary chain" crap needs to die.

(In this case, the theory is that autism is the next step in human evolution - that's not how evolution works. Hollywood keeps thinking evolution is a ladder where species keep getting "better and better" rather than just giving better chances of survival to those individuals who are best adapted to the current environment. )

Edit: And no, the movie isn't super duper long. I realised I hadn't played Palia yet today so I took a break half way through...

Well, I still found it rather enjoyable. Every movie seem to have crap science anyway.

I wish they'd have shown science woman (Beckett? something on B I think) again at the end. And that she got to keep one of the alien dogs. They seemed dog like enough once they took a liking to you...
