and the language...
The people living now (in their past) is "Rusties", kids under 16 (pre-surgery) are "uglies" and the older ones are "pretties". I guess anything else would be too complicated. :dumb:

Edit: And the logic of their science....
They have flying skateboards, and when they leave the school grounds one of them goes "but there's no grid beyond this point" and the other replies "there's minerals in the water/riverbed. Just stick to the water and you'll be fine"
and they woohoo along above the river. And then they have a chat above a tall tower in some ruins and one of them flies off on her skateboard, without either grid or water. I guess metals are enough? The ruins contain metal structures... But the ground contains metal  just like the river bed so I don't get it. Basically the things should fly everywhere if they require so little - so why did they need to follow the riverbed in the first place?

Apparently this film is based on another teen novel, but I think I've rarely seen so many clichés and so much predictability. I mean... You could basically see where it was going from the beginning. And I'm only half way so far. I guess there's a minute chance that I am wrong or that at least one thing happens that surprises me, but I'm very doubtful of that.

Edit: well, given how predictable everything was I didn't quite expect the film to end as if there's going to be a sequel... It doesn't seem to be certain yet, though the book has three sequels, apparently. Can't see the need for one as the "major cliffhanger" (as one site describes it) makes it perfectly clear that the continuation will be as predictable as everything else has been so far.

Still, I did manage to sit through it all, with the help of quite a bit of chocolate...

Money. :stare:

I'm still getting through Star Trek Prodigy but there are quite a lot of trivial filler episodes between the bits of story. At least they're only 25 minutes long.

Apparently I started watching The Union yesterday and then totally forgot about it about 10 minutes in or so. So I finished it today, but I don't think it's strange that I forgot about it because it's not a very memorable movie. The car chase towards the end reminded me a bit of Top Gear, though. One fancy purple car, one big and flashy bright orange car and a scratched, dirty and dented blue car all racing along a serpentine road in the beautiful Italian countryside. :aha:

At least I think they were in Italy. I kind of lost track here and there. :dumb: They were in the US at the beginning and the end, where Halle Berry was wearing black underwear to a wedding, and the UK for most of the first half, that much I am certain of.

:D Yeah, he wasn't too bad but there wasn't really much chemistry between him and Halle as far as I could tell. Not that I'm ever very good at telling such things. But they were supposed to be old high school sweethearts, yet she seemed to have more chemistry with her ex husband. (in the film, I've no idea is she's got a real life ex husband.) Some of the bickering dialogue had potential but just didn't seem to... float? Not sure if it was the lack of chemistry or acting. But I didn't feel like any of the acting was terrible so I'm going with lack of chemistry.

Last night I watched Nocturnal Animals which was a rather bleak and disturbing film filled with awful people behaving in awful ways. But it wasn't a bad film. It was the kind of thing that you appreciate rather than actually enjoying it and then you don't really want to watch again.

and uh, now I've seen the last one (well, most of it) I guess  is a fairly apt reaction. :aha:
And maybe :X
