I make textures and combine with smoothness and shininess in Unity.
I think the issue isn't so much the texture as the sharp edges trying to be shaded smooth and just getting that "black shadow" instead...

I watched a video on folding cloth in Blender. Then I swore a bit about how I couldn't make sense of the last few seconds stating how you would be able to use the finished thing as a non-animated item in itself and re-did my towel. Then I scrapped my re-done towel and re-did it again.

It now has considerably fewer "folds" than before but it'll do.

:hmm: Do you just apply the cloth modifier on the frame that you like?

I can't actually remember when I'm not at my PC doing it. :dumb:
But you can definitely do it cos I've done it at least three times in this thread already.

I don't have any frames :stare:
and no, I'm still just making a shape with rounded edges.... For this last one I made a flattened cylinder and then added bits into a loop/fold.... (and rounded the ends)

Oh, you're not doing the simulation thing where you "drop" a mesh on to something else. In that case ignore everything I said.

Well whatever method you used it does look better now. :aha:
It appears to have a lovely thick softness to it now.

Thanks. Though it's not really meant to look like a big fluffy towel, more like an old coarse rag type of towel :P The foundies are more or less medieval after all.

Was that video tutorial the one with the moving rod that folded the cloth?
I just found that while googling a moment ago and that was a really cool way of doing it. I would never have thought of that. :dumb:

Yup that was the one :) And yes the animation looked cool but seemed like way too much work for what I just wanted to be a simple plain still piece of cloth, in the end...

Today's work. I'll need to make a sink too. Not sure how to differentiate it from the planned "metal" sink, though. The metal sink won't actually be metal, it's just that the foundies have three different resources to build from; stone, wood and iron ore. Unless you count the magical glowy blue crystals... I am considering making a luxury crystal bathroom set for fun, but I'm not sure I can be bothered. Anyway, trying to make items successively less crude as I progress through the materials and tech tree.

In other news Merlin just barfed on my bed. :stare:
Oh well,, the bedsheets were due to be changed anyway...

Finished most of this yesterday, but needed to do some more texturemapping before calling it done.
