Nerdy Question: Is it a double layer sphere and if so what's the Index Of Refraction of the transparent layer?

I get some weird lensing effects round the edge of the eyeball because I probably haven't done that right. :dumb:
Thankfully you can't see it if you don't get too close. :)

Yes, the outer layer is erm, something like 1.3lahdeblahthingamy, basically a glass, or maybe I lowered it to something like water. In Modo, there is a handy drop down list of numbers for different materials next to the input field to save you having to look it up or try different numbers.

Another edit - I basically did it similar to this video, but he's rendering in Keyshot while I'm using Modo. I also modelled mine to begin with instead of doing it all directly in ZBrush.

There isn't much modelling in mine, all the detail is a painty-bump-mappy texture that I spent ages working on in Blender's awful painting tabs.

I have it set at 1.0 and it gives me this with the gap at the edge...

There isn't actually a gap that size between the spheres, it's just refraction. But when I increase the value to minimize that then the irises go freaky...

My solution so far  is to not look too closely.

*would probably never have thought further than "take a sphere - attach eye texture - make shiny"*

Weird, is Blender using real world values, or is it doing it's own thing and using a zero to one scale or something? Maybe reducing it would fix the issue.

It's the KISS principle - one of my teachers at Uni was very fond of it.
