I'm not feeling very sheepish at all. Are you?

Now that I can agree with. Though it's a wee bit early for bed.
(Apparently not for hamsters, though...)

I successfully completed that Blender tutorial today. :excited:

And the result was... awful. :pout:

Theirs looked like a load of little islands on some water and mine looked like a weird collection of smooth lumps on a shiny blue floor.

*sticks to making single items.*
(Though come to think of it, sooner or later I'm going to have t figure out what's wrong with those sunflowers I made a couple of months back.)

YouTube now thinks I want more Blender tutorials. Or maybe it just thinks I need them. :P
Anyway I watched some character sculpting things today and then had a go myself and.... I really don't know why I bother thinking for one brief moment that I might be able to do it.

But if Pixar wants to make a movie about a deformed, squidgy thing with a default plasticky texture then they can call me right now. :aha:

The sculpting tools don't seem to like me at all. I'm better off just moving one little coordinate at a time. Or better yet, I just stick to boxes and the occasional sphere or cylinder.

Another day and another Blender failure. Watched a few more sculpty thing and then proceeded to make another lumpy-faced mess. :eyeroll:
I just don't know how they get past that lumpy stage. :dunno:
And some of the videos manage to do characters without even getting that lumpy disease. It's a mystery to me.

My results today were so bad that I trawled through some old folders to try and find the models I made previously when I spent more time on it. It seems I was much better back then too...

This was the best one I could find back from the days I worked with Sculptris. My Blender efforts now are nowhere near this but even that one sufferes from that lumpiness around the eyes and the hair. At least now I know that back then I was doing the hair in a way that's completely wrong. :dumb:

I only got as far as the collarbones before giving up.... No head to put lumps on, even.

On a positive note I am liking the remesh function that I've only just discovered.
