she said I looked "elegant" and like an old painting....

Covered in cracks and layers of dirt? Doesn't sound very complimentary

Today I tried to follow a Procedural Landscape tutorial in Blender after it popped up in my YouTube recommendations. :woohoo:

I didn't last long before giving up.
:dunno:

Well my second attempt went a little bit better today.
Just spent 45 minutes trying to work out why their settings options are different to mine (Ah, the displacement trick only works with the Cycles renderer. :shakefist:) but after sorting that out and spending another 45 minutes making progress I've now reached that point in every tutorial where I find out that their PC is much, MUCH more powerful than mine.

Blender has now turned into a slideshow. :)

EDIT: Found another method that works with Eevee, doesn't slow my PC down and looks a bit more promising. However the nodey bit is a little more complicated and my daily patience has run out so it can wait for another day. :P

For now I'm just sticking with my simple make model, texture-map, load in Unity...

I have no need to understand nodes and displacements and that ambient occlusion thing I was struggling with for Banished.

But it seemed so easy while watching. :)
Some of the tutorials are literally just five minutes without any cuts or anything. They really do it in a few minutes while I'm taking two hours to just follow the instructions.
I will try again next week.
Maybe.

Sounds like me cooking...
Book: "Boil for 5 minutes and it will be soft"
Me: *Boils for 60 minutes and it's still hard as a rock. Regardless of what it was to begin with. *

Which reminds me. Today I caught a few minutes of a cooking show during a commercial break on another TV channel, and the Swedish subtitles said to boil the potatoes until "crisp".

Well you can bake things in Blender.... if you can understand those functions as well.
