Also... I think that maybe... I might just have a horse? Perhaps?
I'm not quite sure if I got the actual horse or if it was a cosmetic skin for a horse. But I was awarded something.
I'll have to investigate further next time if I can drag myself away from that cat.


EDIT: After a bit of research I'm pretty certain that I DO now have a horse. It seems that I was pressing the wrong key when trying to summon it which made me doubt myself. And, like items in the bank, it's now available to all my characters. Which answers my previous query about all those other low level players with mounts as even my level 3 fat chap can ride it.
And you can gradually increase its carrying capacity...
...by one slot by paying 250 gold every 20 hours.
Well, it's cheaper than the bag increases.
I'll now have to think of a name for this horse.
And I hope it can walk slowly.

Strangely the cat wasn't a tabby today and didn't look wrinkly at all.
And today I successfully summoned my horse, gave it a proper name and confirmed that you can trot slowly through the streets.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot! I saw a house for sale. Couldn't afford it.
Well, not with in-game gold anyway. I think I did have enough "crowns" to buy it with the bundle that you get free at the start but I'm always wary of giving away that annoying "special" currency that online games like to have.

And yes, they make you use that currency a few times and then you can't live without it.... Same in every game.

I am confused... I've downloaded a few mods basically with the intent to play around with and change them, e.g. some earrings a retexture for the baskets... and I've realised that all I ever download are nifs (meshes) and dds (textures). There's no file telling the game to use these textures etc instead of the vanilla assets, so how does the game know?

If it's enough to put in the data folder then they would have to always follow the same structure as the in game assets but some are named after the people who made them (I think) so... that doesn't seem to be the case either.

As far as I know replacer mods usually do overwrite the game assets. That's why mod managers are important as they backup the original files so that you don't lose them.
But I'm not sure exactly how that works (if it's correct) cos all the game assets are packed into the bsa files.

They don't all use bsa files... And all mods are placed in the data folder, which was empty initially, so I don't think the in game assets are overwritten, I think they're still in a...bsa or something, somewhere... Anyway the game assets are not available "one by one" to open up in other programs, so I don't think they can be overwritten in the sense of getting lost, at least not for SE, maybe LE is different?

I think mods that don't have loose files use either esp or esm files rather than bsa but I really don't know enough about this to make any useful comments.
If they do just come as loose separate files then maybe there's a script or ini alteration that points to the replacement.
