*grumbles*
I have now put the Wrye Bash "mopy" folder in my oblivion folder, downloaded obse, blockhead and character overhaul plus some landscaping mods (i.e. vegetation textures, weather etc). As far as I can tell, I have also installed the mods in the order required, although some are "grey" (not all files could be installed) and one is yellow (another file, my guess is version 2 which claims you need version 1, has overwritten some files). But when I start a new game, I get "install blockhead" all over the character's face.

I was going to get the reinstall vanilla hairs, but that required the unofficial patch and at least one more mod and I'm kind of sick of everything needing at least two other things to work. So I figured I'd start with "only a few". I mean, apparently through GOG I already have 10 DLC's as well, 8 of which are "red" (dirty edits, needs cleanup - like hey, what am I supposed to do about that???)

Anyway, according to the internet, one should launch via obse (I wasn't aware that was a THING) not via whatever, but I launched via Wrye as some page somewhere said I might get crashes or errors otherwise. Guess I'll try via GOG and see what happens.

Edit: Nope. 
And it's a rather long intro to go through every time just to find it doesn't work.

Apparently Wrye didn't actually install OBSE at all. I had to do that manually. And for reasons I don't understand the archive contained like 8 files but I was to copy three of them (plus a folder - the only part that Wrye did for me) to the Oblivion folder... What about the other files? OOK nevermind the readme, but the others? Why are they there if they're no use??? Anyhow, I think it worked, in spite of the character Overhaul being very specific about how OBSE needed to be installed FIRST. I guess I'll find out if I messed up.   
I might also have to remember to always start the game through that OBSE exe now... 

Well, I have gone through the entire tutorial/beginning again, and made a save so I can hopefully just skip the early part if I want to start over or make more characters.

But she still looks kinda funny. And her ears are a decidedly different colour from her face. And she looks OK in the character/face generator but then when opening the inventory she still looks like a twerp.



I need to get ready to catch the train to take the bus etc. etc...

I would certainly think about installing the unofficial patches. I usually do those before even thinking about anything else as they fix a LOT of bugs. And some of the more complicated base mods like the script extenders do require separate installations (I think Skyrim was the same) and the enbs are like that too.
I have heard of that Blockhead error but I never got that and I've also never had an issue with launchers. I've always used the default shortcut on the desktop without it making any difference.

I guess opening Oblivion he usual way might very well work, now obse is actually installed.

And the car.... the car and I got almost all the way home, in the pouring rain, before one of the windshield wipers fell off. Luckily it was the passenger side one.
(I'm hoping I can attach it again, myself, but I'll have a look at some point in time when it's not raining, 30 degrees C or pitch black, outside.)

(Edit: Preferably not freezing, either.)

Well... first off. It seems my save game that I intended to keep as a "quick start" (from where you can change your character before exiting the sewers) was overwritten by a later autosave? It's not there anymore, anyway.

Edit: And second, nope I can't start the usual way or my poor redguard looks like a green orc with the text "install blockhead" all over her face. Again. 

I don't recall the unofficial patch needing anything else.
Although there are separate patches for the DLC if that's what you mean.
Of course my memory is terrible so I've probably forgotten it all.

And it sounds like your car needs another mod too.

I still haven't successfully joined the Mages Guild. You need recommendations from people all over the place.

The quickest group to join is The Blades after you've delivered Sean Bean to wherever he needs to go. You get beds, free armour and free swords then.
