If the wings are membranes they probably don't have scales, though... I think. :dry:
They don't on bats anyway :dumb:

That's OK, I'll be able to mask out the wings later, it was the texture on the leg that I was pleased with. :)
Then again, the inaccurate wing scales still look a bit better than the blandness that was there before. :dry:
I'll have to think some more about what to do with them.
As long as it doesn't need UVs. :P

I masked out the wings and the bones and the claws so that only the body skin has scales. :aha:
And now I've rigged it so he can pose like this... :woohoo:

 

There's a little problem with the automatic weights on one of the wings so he can't move too much without some freakish creases appearing. :lol:
I'll try and solve that next time with weight painting but I suspect it might be a bit tricky cos of that Boolean thing I did. The issue is right by one of those intersections so I'm wondering if there are some extra vertices that have been left inside the mesh. :hmm:

Yes, yes, the domain isn't wide enough which makes it look a little squished but it takes long enough as it is to simulate and render so it'll have to do for the testing phase. And it only really looks good in cycles, hence the graininess and yet more time passing. :eyeroll:

Thanks to another tutorial I've worked out how to shade it in Eevee...

 

You have to use the Flame attribute instead of the Heat attribute. :confident:
And I've managed to get the smoke back too.
Unfortunately it doesn't emit light in Eeevee and in Cycles you can only get the bloom with post-processing. :S
