It's all gone a bit quiet on the movie quote, story time and word ass threads.

Notice how there is just no decent way of abbreviating the word "association"!

And, another thing, why is "abbreviating" such a long word??

Because you didn't abbreviate it. :P

And yeah, the threads do sometimes lose momentum, but may pick back up later? Which I believe also happened on the old site as well. ... I haven't been able to get on much myself recently, but have noticed a slow down as of late. Which too should pick back up. Maybe when everyone is snowed in! :) Though I will have to be working if that happens.

Just during the winter. :) But it's not that bad really, and it does breaks up the monotony.

It's just they pretty much lock us all down during winter, hardly allowing for any 'out-of-town' leave. (Unless it's something really major) but they just want to make sure everyone is available for inclimate weather.

I watched Prometheus last night. Not sure what I think. It's like it could have been an exciting movie but they botched it... After the first half-hour or so I had to google it to see if it was meant to be some sort of religious propaganda movie. Apparently not, just a religious/philosophical type of discussion. Which is fine and could be really interesting given the "Engineers" and the non-human David. But they never really take it anywhere, besides being occasionally very unscientific. (Like when the lead character Ellie proclaims that she chooses to believe in the Engineers precisely because there is no evidence for them. Or when they enter an area with breathable atmosphere and all take off their helmets disregarding both the possibility of them suddenly needing said helmets again OR that they themselves might contaminate the area. Or that archaeologists are conducting medical examinations... And that a 2000 year old (dead) head would still have functioning neural pathways... or a baby squid that grows into Chtulhu in a matter of hours without any sustenance from which to grow... Sorry for any spoilers if you haven't seen it.)

Seems to me the script writer could have done with a better understanding of both science in general and evolution in particular. Guess I was disappointed, now that I sum it up. But it's a real shame - much of the same story could have been told without all the logical holes.

y'see I think you have to watch it and disregard any analysis, I really enjoyed it, but then I tend to just watch mindless stuff purely for the entertainment value. :D
