I do like a good comic book!!

I always like to check my facts first. Get both sides of the story. That way I can come to my own conclusion.

Here's an example of "the other side" of the argument.

Interesting! Will have to take a closer look when I get home! :) (But for now I'll stick with the chirping dino theory!)

Thanks for the edit Charlotte. I couldn't get the link to work in chrome.

It is funny how so many thrive on iconoclastic theories. I am more of a read between the lines sort of person, taking information from many sources before coming to iron clad conclusions... that's if I come to any conclusions at all! Ha!

It's all very interesting!

I'm not sure which is the iconoclastic theory you refer to, but I've had a fun evening reading up on birds, dinosaurs, feathers and all kinds of stuff! :P And I'm still on the chirping dino side ;)

(Anything in paranthesis below is me thinking not speaking...)

Mom: A friend recommended a book for old people on how to use Google and stuff. I'm not old! I know how to google! Stupid advice!
Me: mhm.
Mom: Can you help me find an antivirus?
Me: uhm... I guess I could google. (Just like you.)
Me: OK here's a link to several free antiviruses, I recommend the second on the list.
Mom: Can you recommend a specific one.
Me: uhm, yes (I just did). I'll send the specific link to the page where you download. Go to that page and click the big green button that says "Download"
1 month later
Mom: How do I know if the antivirus is working?
Me: Did you install the downloaded file?
Mom: ?
Me: You have to install the file first.
Mom: OK.
1 month later
Mom: It says I have to pay, wasn't it supposed to be free? *sends screenshot taken via cellphone instead of screenshot function on computer, so very blurry*
Me: That's not the name of the antivirus I told you to download. Also, there's nothing saying it's not free - there's an ad for something in the window BEHIND the antivirus window that tells you to buy something...
Me: Here's an instruction with screenshots and direct links. Make sure THIS is the name of the file you downloaded.
Mom: It's not working.
Mom: I tried again, and saw the free programs were further down when I scrolled (me: there was no scrolling required) but I couldn't open the file and there was no save option (me: it was already saved...)
Mom: I'll show you when you get here.
Me: I checked again. You have a Mac and need a Mac version of the antivirus, not the Windows version (would have helped if I knew that to begin with). Here's the link.
Me: (I'll be there for christmas. My sister lives a couple of minutes away and visits her almost daily. WHY is she asking ME for help with this??? I hate being Tech Support.)

Additional info: The screenshot she sent seems to have been of the correct version of the Mac antivirus in the first place. *sigh*

"Print Scrn" on PC, next to F12, then paste from the clipboard in whatever software you like.
Yes, that key does have a use. But I don't know what SysRq means. And neither does anyone. Anyone at all!

Well mom has a Mac and I haven't used a Mac for about 20 years or so :P If there's a print screen function I dunno where it is... and after all the stuff described it seems she has a too old OS. Not that I would know how to check - on a Mac...

Not sure if it was the same with older Macs, but but shift+command+3 takes a screen shot. And shift+command+4 is a selectable screen shot, letting you left-click and drag to select the portion of screen you would like to be copied.

PS - don't see the screenshot mentioned, so can't comment. :)

I get sketchy around pencils! ...=D
