...and if I hear that computery voice warn me about my suit's thermal protection just one more time then I'll... I'll...
...well, I'll probably go and find some more sodium to charge it up.
There's a lot more resource harvesting and crafting than I would like but at least there aren't any clunky loading screens.

Also I really should be in bed. Dang.

And I did have to actually land rather than fast travelling there.
But the way the landscape "pops in" as you descend shows why other games want to do it differently.
I did feel that the resource stuff was too grindy. The format felt like I was constantly being given tasks that I couldn't do because I needed 75 bits of (RANDOM MATERIAL). And then at one point I was shooting away to get 50 bits of carbon when my mining laser cut out. I was informed it needed charging and to do that I needed... some more bits of carbon! That's what I'm trying to harvest!
Overall it still feels a bit like an early access indie game that's lacking the polish of a final release, even after all the years and updates. Like all those corrupted logs that you have to read in silence that spell out the sound effects of the glitches (krrrzt) as if they're really supposed to be audio logs but they don't have the budget for more voice acting.

Also you can always harvest the very basest materials even without charging the better tool, as far as I recall... And those resources (sodium and carbon) becomes considerably less of a problem later.
Oh and you have to go do an excavation too. Those are fun - the first time. Then you realise every site is exactly the same (as with the big crashed freighters...) Anyway, it is kind of fun travelling around trying to find species you really like and ships that are really cool and so on.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot about the dinosaur bones!

Oh dear, I guess you haven't got far enough in Starfield yet I look forward to hearing about it when it happens (it's not audio log related though).Overall it still feels a bit like an early access indie game that's lacking the polish of a final release, even after all the years and updates. I wonder what's causing it? I can't recall it ever happening before yesterday (well, Chrome does occasionally go black when I scroll through photos from house listings. Usually between floorplan 1 and floorplan 2, for some reason... Stupid new computer
