And for part of it I had to find and enter a series of temples but one of them seemed to be at the back of a big fortress/castle thing populated by lots (LOTS) of baddies.
I foolishly tried to get through it and got surrounded several times and my health was struggling (for the first time in this game.)
I escaped with my life still intact and then found a group of other players fighting their way through so I tagged along with them even though I wasn't doing the same quest they were.
I still couldn't find a path through so retreated again and decided to do some sneaking round the outside walls. And then I found the really easy path that I was supposed to take that doesn't go anywhere near that castle and it's big fighty quest.
Well it was fun fighting in someone else's adventure for a while.

That's one of the reasons why-
Oh, hold on a moment- Er, what? What are you saying to me?
No, man-with-shiny-face-and-beard, I do not want to duel with you in the middle of the market place. I'm just trying to offload some loot, deconstruct armour and maybe make a couple of potions to free up some inventory slots before going to the bank again. OK? Good, good.
Sorry about that. Where was I? Ah, yes. The reported short length of Stray is one of the reasons why I haven't thought about buying it yet. I certainly do want to play it 😸 but I'd want it to be much less than full price.
Erm... Hold on a moment again-
NO, man-with-shiny-face-and-beard, I do NOT want to duel with you in the middle of the market place.
I wonder if that's what's happening with all those fights I keep seeing.
But the guards wouldn't get involved then, would they?
I'll probably have to google.

And I did google the fighty fights in ESO but most results were so old I wasn't sure they were still relevant. According to them it was easy to accidentally hurt guards and also once a noob had gotten a bounty the guards would keep attacking until the bounty was paid which it couldn't be because the noobs couldn't get any quests done since they kept getting attacked by guards, etc...
Also there's supposed to be a setting that prevents you from harming "innocents". Which seems like a good setting, to me. Just the other day I finished a short quest, told the quest giver I was done and then shot her in the arm.
I might lose that particular quest, though. It's attached to a small cottage in Riverwood, but I already have another small shack mod there. And the quest is kind of meh - mostly because the dialogue is silent but then once you finish the dialogue options the characters suddenly go "hmm?" or something in a loud voice, and it just becomes very jarring when they can't say the main stuff out loud.
I think I'll also need to look over where I have mod homes now, so I don't download too many for the same small areas. I think I have one on either side of Ivarstead for instance.
And yesterday I got the KS hairdos one which has like a thousand hairs so I also got another mod that limits the m by 75% or so... Though if I want NPCs to use these hairs I apparently need a gazillion more mods for that, too...

Then she told you that you gave her just the shot in the arm she needed? Also there's supposed to be a setting that prevents you from harming "innocents". Which seems like a good setting, to me. Just the other day I finished a short quest, told the quest giver I was done and then shot her in the arm.
But she forgave me. This ONCE. Next time she spoke she said "Hey, you're that person who hurt me!"

Glad I didn't accept. Twice.
I think the fights I'm seeing are a result of people getting caught stealing or pickpocketing (accidentally or otherwise) and then having to flee from the guards seeing as you can't rely on telling everyone you're the thane or quickly going back to a previous save.
There are no mod shacks here but the next thing I want to do is to look into that free room quest. I think I'm a couple of levels away from getting a reward of a 30 slot storage chest so I need somewhere to put it before that happens but the inn is in another town so I need to make the journey there. I was sort of on my way there the other day when I picked up this Prologue quest which started off in the same general direction but I didn't realise I'd end up being teleported all over the world.
Yes, I also didn't want to download that massive hair mod.
I found a cut down version that only offered about 20 of the styles and that seemed a bit more manageable.

And Banj, I have no idea what shots she needed...
