I changed the hue and transparency a bit on the normal map and I got that dividing line back, and then I changed hue and transparency back but the line remains. :stare: I also changed the diffuse colour because I figured maybe I just needed to desaturate them a bit to make them fit in better, and that's probably why the normal map is now not behaving as before, but by now I have no idea which direction to make changes in.
I wouldn't change the hue of a normal map, they have specific colours for specific normal directions. By altering the colours you change the normal directions.

Yes, that is why I tried changing the hue. After all, I have one I made myself, from scratch, so the hues might be wrong to begin with, ya know? It seems redder = darker (deeper) and bluer = lighter (higher) so for the smooth area I've just tried various purple hues to see if they become too bright or too dark.

Come to think of it, I think I reduced the opacity where it was supposed to be shaded but that area should also have been redder which I might possibly have forgotten.... :dumb: Anyway, that's not the main issue. The problem is the stupid seam between the two halves of the tomato showing, and the tomato not getting a credible colour (red, but not too bright (saturated) or light (desaturated) red).

Edit: I'd also like the high shine (high opacity) to give a more concentrated shiny spot but instead it just becomes brighter and shinier all over. Reducing opacity makes it too unshiny. :stare:

I wouldn't manually paint one either, I'd just bake it

From a 3D model. Which I don't have. (I mean, I could get yet another program that can convert the nif ((I think, and if there is one) to Blender and then back again. But seeing as I never managed to learn to bake stuff in Blender anyway, I can't quite see the point. Oh and I think that model should ideally be more complex than the one actually used in the game, that is, the nif file I might have access to...)

I. See.

EDIT - I believe Krita has normal map painting tools in it, so maybe you could use that to fix it.

NifSkope is the 3d tool thing. But I've never downloaded it so...

I think Materialize can "create" normal maps from bump/diffuse maps. :hmm:

Also, going back to baking if you can get the meshes, XNormal still exists and is pretty simple to use for creating normal maps (and other things):  xnormal.net/

And why can't I just blur the dang bumpy map that's too bumpy? :stare: Why would completely transparent areas of the map still give visible edge seams? Stoopid files. :pout:

Tried Krita, probably have a too old version, because I couldn't follow the tutorial I found (or the tutorial was as crappy as its English) and I ended up with a greyscale image that did not make things look better in game. *sigh*

Maybe one day I'll learn to leave well enough alone....
Maybe one day I won't.... :dumb:

In the current version I have there is a normal brush that paints the correct colours based on the tilt angle of your stylus. Other than that I don't know what else it has. As for what else is going on, it's difficult to know without seeing it
