I was determined to NOT play Trials today.
I have plenty of other games installed.

Maybe a bit of Elder Scrolls?
Yeah, that sounds good.
*clicks*
Aaand Steam was down for me and I couldn't log in.
Stupidly I clicked Try Again and of course it didn't work. I keep forgetting that I should instead click Play Offline because the laucher has a tantrum when it repeatedly can't connect.
So, no Steam.
I could play one of my Epic games. GTA, maybe.
Of Ubisoft?
Yes, Trials it is then.

This time I got stuck/obsessed with two particular events and a surprising amount of swearing took place before I finally succeeded three hours later.

Ear we go again...

I'm higher than 5,000th on TWO tracks now.
And this one puts me in the top 0.7% in the world.

It was a satisfying run too. I punched the air in a vigorous yet childish way when crossing the finish Iine.
And I think I can take a couple of tenths off that time if I concentrate more.
But not just yet. I've just unlocked the next load of tracks so I'll be trying those out next.
I should have unlocked them ages ago but I didn't know how to do it without googling.


And I am doing other things apart from playing Trials. Honest.

Looks like what all the other folks are doing differently from you is they're riding praying mantises instead of rhinoceros...

Yes, everyone else likes the Mantis... except me. That's the light, twitchy bike that I'm not very good with.
I have been forcing myself to use it more and managed to set a couple of fast times with it but it's hard work.
Because the Rhino has a bit more inertia to it you can occasionally relax while you're on a flat part of the track but with the Mantis you have to really work it for the entire race by constantly shifting your weight around to avoid the dreaded faceplant.

Sounds like it would give quite a work out, if it was real...

If it was real I definitely wouldn't want "just one more go".

And those new tracks I unlocked are... much more difficult.

Yes, I do know that's how games work.
But it was still a bit of a reality check to go from climbing the leaderboard to then not even being able to get to the finish line.

I've mostly been playing Fer.al these last few days. It's mostly running around gathering ingredients, digging up lock picks and unlocking treasure chests. There's a season's pass thingy which gives you mini quests of a sort, and I keep getting things I can't seem to do. Like trading with strangers or crafting things they've removed from the game
