Still no troll. Unless I've forgotten about it.

But I've been to two classes, done some duelling, pulled some balls, stroked a cat and have now arrived in Hogsmead to get some supplies.
It's good fun so far. I'd definitely install this if my PC could run it.

I remember the cats

Irritatingly it seems I'm slightly underlevelled for the next bits of Clair Obscur. Every place I go to says "DANGER" in red letters.
But there's nowhere else to go so I have to push on with one of them.
And now I'm struggling with this boss battle...

Noooooooooo!

After hours of frustration I finally get it below 50% health and it then changes the timing of the one attack that I'm able to parry. Now I can't parry, I can't dodge AND it stuns me! No more turns for me as it gets to do that one attack again and again without reply until I'm dead.

Gonna have to respec Sciel's pictos/lumina cos I really need her dark attacks (got her doing 25k damage at the start of the fight) but she doesn't last very long with her lower health.

I'll have another try this evening but if I don't make progress I'll retreat and try one of the other places and hope they're not quite as dangerous.

Can you redo previous places to level up a bit?

You can but it's a bit of an unsatisfying chore trying to find things that give you enough XP.

Anyway I had another go after boosting everyone's health by equipping different skills and... and...


I got it down to a few pixels of health and I was down to my last character, Verso. And it hit me with the stun head attack which then gave it three free shots at me and it only needed one.
But...
My Death Bomb killed it.
And Verso can ressurect once per fight.
But of course the boss fight wasn't reeeeally over and it spawned three extra baddies that killed me in one turn.

Infuriating.

From what I recall Clair Obscur was well received but from your er, journaling, I'm pretty sure it's not quite my style. The baddies seem to be a bit too weird for me.

No, don't be put off by my pathetic complaining.
It is a very good game and I'd gladly recommend it to others. I didn't expect to enjoy it, not being a fan of turn-based combat, but the overall mood and artistry of it is excellent and, although the unusual mechanics of the fights take a bit of getting used to, the variety and tactical aspect makes it a bit more interesting than all those other games that do more familiar, predictable things.
It's just the brutal boss fights that take over half an hour that really annoy me so much.

I suspect the tactical aspect would annoy me...

Thank god for those Death Bombs.
I re-equipped all the powers again giving Sciel all the health stuff that Maelle previously had. I knew I had to keep Sciel alive for as long as possible to capitalise on her Dark Magic attacks. In the end I managed to kill the big thing without any of the main party dying.
I managed to build up some momentum with some multiplying combos resulting in a big final hit doing 250K of damage!
Then the three little things spawned and wiped everyone out in both the main and reserve parties and I still don't know what their attacks are or how to dodge them.

But those Death Bombs gave me some payback! Kamikaze comes in handy.
And that left Verso to resurrect and save me. *phew*

The next character quest is 75+ And none of my party is over level 52.
