Did I ever mention how much I hate tutorial videos? :stare:

*goes to watch video for the 3rd time today*

Edit: Actually I couldn't be bothered. Guess I might again, tomorrow. I'll probably have to use darkfox's script anyway as the hearthfire one seems ridiculously complex in comparison. I'm not entirely sure, but I think in order to tell the workbench/script what to build, that item has to be a miscellaneous item. And miscellaneous items can't be disabled, but if it's not disabled it shows up before it's built. And I guess that explains why hearthfire has 1 million miscellaneous item versions of stuff already existing in game plus an equal amount of keywords, enchantments and mysterious chests in the utility room.

Darkfox's script on the other hand just links you to an item or x-marker to be constructed which can therefore initially be disabled and you just enabled it. So not so much extra junk. But then on the other hand I meant to keep a bunch of the existing stuff and I'm not sure how well that'll work. Or when I'll feel awake enough to try to understand any of it, properly.

I wouldn't understand this tutorial in any format. :dumb:

Back in Fallout 3 I have now left The Vault behind after hacking the computer at the third attempt. It took me a while to understand that little wordle -style mini-puzzle even though I have experienced it before in the other game. :dumb:
And now I'm aimlessly wandering around the nuclear wasteland in the appropriate clothing of a lab coat and reading glasses.
I thought I had a baseball cap (to go with my big bash bat) but I can't find it in my inventory. I was sure I was wearing something like that the other day. And then I remembered that that was over six years ago before I "grew up". :dumb:
Time flies in the vault. :aha:

I can't remember what the word puzzle was but I am pretty sure there was a clue to the answer, somewhere... :dumb:

Also, I never got further than outside. I'm still not sure what you were supposed to do next. :hmm:

Like most Bethesda games you can do whatever you want whenever you want. And once outside I was bombarded with many radio transmission which will no doubt lead to numerous side quests. But certain people seem to be suggesting I go to a town called Megaton so I may make my way there to see if there's anything else to hit with my baseball bat. :aha:

well there was a flying radio thing that spotted me but I wasn't sure if it was aggressive so I hid from it :dumb:

If they're aggressive they show up red on the super confusing compass. :confident:

One of the things that keeps putting me off the Fallout games is the whole Pip-Boy interface along with having to go through several clicks to get to the options you want.

Was the super confusing compass on the pip-boy or on the screen? I can't remember at all. I do remember taking a while to get the hang of the pip-boy thing. Not to mention trying to get used to the name. I've heard it elsewhere before but I still think it sounds utterly silly.

Super confusing compass is on screen in the bottom left corner, which is not the first place your eyes go to when you're panicking to locate the baddies. :)
But it does conform to the awkward art style of the Pip-Boy thing that needs too many button clicks.
I realise and appreciate the immersive nature of it but I'd much prefer a quicker and cleaner way to get to the maps and inventory.
Of course there are mods... :hmm:
