He got me a second letter a while later. Which is good, because the letters are needed to send "valentine greetings" to other aywas members, which give you points so you can buy stuff we yet have to see... In the usual spirit of commercialized seasons :P

Getting more letters is the whole reason I'm "cooking" just now. Aywas cooking is quite interesting as you can see from the item rewards given out. Basically you mash a whole bunch of stuff together, wait a while, and then get another bunch of stuff back. Letters among them, but they're rather far in between...

 nah, my hungry hungry hamster bumble is just named after him. Who else could I have named it for, it being a hamster and all?

Aywas has something they called monthly jeweled customes (because you need "jewel" items to make 'em), and I thought I'd give that a go, even though the payout sucks compared to the time it takes to make the edits and shade and stuff (at least I don't need to colour them).

I did three so far, but I'm not happy with the chorlu head (that'd be the one to the far left) so I guess I need to rework that some...

Some colorations I did without edits, for comparison (I never did a kaba - the one o the right - as I don't really like the original much)

Meh... tried to play with the head a bit, to see if I could come up with something better but along the same lines. I don't think I managed. And I do think I suck at facial expression....

aaaaand EDIT:
It's always good to post things online to see how embarassingly off things look. So here's a third version...

EDIT2 - the third version would mean the least needed edits while still removing the things I disliked most, so I'll probably work with that. But the antennae are off... and looking at the shaded version in the previous post I should reduce the bounce light quite a bit too :P Been trying to do one of these a day but apparently this little wormy thing is gonna stretch out over three days...

The antennae look fine.
The thing I'd think about changing is the pointy teeth/fangs.
The one that's partially obscured just looks like a thin one at first glance.

And I like your colouring of it. Makes it look cute and fluffy. The default base colouring just looks a bit creepy.

well chorlus usually are cute and fluffy :P
The "default" coloring is my choice for the "prehistoric" edited bases I'm making... a dull brown seemed suitable. And yes, prehistoric means shaggy or armored, with big teeth. :D

You probably have a point about that tooth, but I've already decided to call that one finished after adjusting the shading to the line changes earlier today. Now I just need to make five more....

EDIT: Four more...

Three to go

EDIT: looking at it now - as always - there might be a few things I need to work more on before it's 100% done...
List for my own benefit:
1) enlarge tail scales
2) fix wonky last bone on wing
3) a few more (or bigger?) highlights on the larger scales, I think...
EDIT: 4) Not sure I like the shading/lighting on the wings at all - the leathery parts should be smoother, probably...

In spite of my earlier nap I suspect I need to sleep on it...

One*

*Actually two, but if the set is accepted by Aywas staff, they decide the 9th ("rare") pet.
