They were following me around in the grass, getting in the way and making those little noises. And I always panic when I hear something and can't immediately see it.
Also Compys' behaviour is often rather changeable depending on how many there are. Sometimes they love you and want to chase you around but if they're mating or in a larger group then they start attacking. Because I couldn't initially see how many there were it was just better to remove them.

Just disposing of a body while a passing chicken eats out of the dead man's hat...

 

And after I'd dumped it I could hear that little tune again.

And as you can see, it took me so long to locate it that it had started to get dark.

GoG seem to be giving away an old point and click game called Sanitarium.
