Always remember to save often because it can be a mild irritation when you spend 2 hours painting a doggie portrait and then it decided to crash when you're within 5 minutes of finishing the thing.

ArtRage hardly ever crashes on me. Usually it freezes up if I accidentally try to move and scale a layer at the same time, or something like that. (Move in the stack of layers, that is.)

Yep.
And it never crashes on a picture that I don't like.
For me it tends to hang when I'm doing a lot of very quick palette knife strokes, it may actually be something to do with my older tablet and drivers.
I kinda wish it had a timed Autosave like Rebelle does or maybe I should just remember to save all by myself.

Anyway with the dog long gone I went to relieve my frustrations in GTA V by getting Trevor to beat up random strangers.

I had the same thing with Painter 2019 crashing. From the brief searching I did online it seemed that tablet drivers and fast brush strokes were related to that, so it could be the same thing with ArtRage.

Yeah, I vaguely remember having similar crashes on Photoshop too many years ago which makes me think that's the issue.
I really should get into the habit of saving more regularly.

Did most of this on Saturday afternoon but then forgot about it and only remembered to finish it just before bed.

I do like the small bits of colour in a greyscale image, but in this one... maybe the pink of the eyes should be either grey or muted? I don't think it works quite as well as it could. Otherwise, I'm still jealous at you for managing to draw something every day. (And get a result, even if a quickie - even if I tried I never even get half way with my "quick" ones...)
