So after a bit of coach travel I got back into some more quests, not the Ivarstead one, I'll save that for when I'm going back to talk to the Greybeards. No, I went back Morthal way to find a cave. Following the map, I ended up ascending this winding path up a mountain and as I approached what I thought would be the cave I was presented with an enormous ledge and no cave and no quest marker.
I made sure it was turned on this time.
Still no quest marker.
Looked at the map and it was supposed to be here... and then I did that little 3D rotation of the map and saw that the cave entrance was hundreds of metres below me.
Back down the path then.
All the way around the base of the hill, past some annoying Thalmor (yeah, yeah, none of my business, citizen!) past some surprisingly aggressive mudcrabs (ESO keeps making me forget about those dangers) and finally ... to the cave?
Still no quest marker.
Apparently it's up there somewhere...
...hopefully not as high as that hazy dragon.
So, I was too high, now I'm too low and I have to find a path that'll get me up there to the inbetween point where the cave actually is.
And it took a while to find the correct route up. And it was three waterfalls not just one. AND there was a surprise triple bear attack inside! Thankfully Arissa knew something was wrong in there and gave me a bit of a warning.
But... I got a Daedric Bow!
EDIT: And back Online now...
I have levelled up my Tailoring and have now crafted a rug for my room. Mmmm, feel the quality of that.
One slight downside is that after that level-up my daily Clothing Writs may now be more difficult and costly in terms of materials.
But it's nice to have a rug.
Oh, and I've joined the Fighter's Guild as well.
Some people may think that's more important but... Rug!

Warning: Spoiler!

It's useful in that it adds a bit of parallax to see the depth better. There are a couple of other places that are hard to get to because of the ambiguous height. Broken Oar Grotto springs to mind.

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.
There are constantly things placed on the wrong side of a steep mountain range.... but nothing a good horse can't reach...
