Silly Sheogorath and his cheese-related antics. :shakefist:

And his pet killed me. :dead:
Should have dodge-rolled out of that glowy red circle.

I'm still agonizing over which computer to buy. Today I found one that was almost 40k but now is 32,5 k but that is still 5k more than the ones I saw before (which were on offer and can now not be found anywhere at that price).

And maybe I should settle for a smaller ssd and lower price, but now I have also seen something about video memory and how that might soon need to be up towards 10 GB and everything I've seen so far have been 4 to 8 GB, even the high-end options.

:argh:

Steam's hardware statistics, which would be fairly representative of the PC gamers in general, show the top graphics cards currently used as:
  1. RTX 3060
  2. GTX 1650
  3. RTX 2060
  4. GTX 1060
Unless you are planning on getting the latest AAA titles and playing at 4k with ultra settings, you should be fine with most cards that are available at the moment. My older computer connected to the TV has a GTX 970 in it and will still play everything I have with no trouble (albeit on lower settings than my main system, but that's partly down to the aging CPU rather than GPU). The cards in those laptops you mentioned previously would be fine for a quite some time.

This is the point where I can offer nothing more to the discussion.

I have a GT-1030 with only 2GB of VRAM and Death Stranding/A.C. Origins are the absolute limit of what it can handle.

The fact that Death Stranding even runs on that kind of proves the point

Well I heard that a couple of years from now there might be something referred to as Elder Scrolls 6. Which I assume will be something like the "latest AAA titles" while my new computer will no longer be brand new, by then... So yeah, I want it good enough to last a while. My current one is 7 years old after all, which I think tends to be old in computer years. Though it's also still fairly good, besides the issue of running out of space. (And the bubble on the screen...)

Edit: and if I checked my VRAM correctly I have 128 MB :dumb:
Edit2: The google result summary said to look under a display tab, but if I look under the render tab it seems to be 4 GB which sounds more plausible.

From what I recall, both the laptops you mentioned looking at before had RTX 4080s in them which have about 12gb of RAM.

Well this time, when I've looked, I've had an awfully difficult time finding anything above 8 GB of VRAM...
I guess I should look back and see if I can find those two options again...

OK, uhm, where exactly did I post about the options I had found last I looked? Because I've gone back 20 pages in this thread and done a site search and I can't find it. :stare:

OK this is confusing....
The spes say "graphics memory 12 GB" and then "video, graphics memory 8 GB" :stare:
