Turned out there wasn't all that much left to do...

and then I went and delivered Iona to the Blades

So no housecarl in Riften (are all "house men" female in Skyrim? ) and I still need a steward for Lakeview Manor. I don't really want Lydia to be the steward, although from what I gather I can still ask her to be a follower. But that gets confusing. I want a civilian steward, not someone running around in armour and helmets that keep me from ever seeing their face. So there.

Well, hello back...
I think some of the jarls have male housecarls too. It's just not a very gender neutral title... (Then again, poor dead Berit was apparently a guy in spite of having a woman's name... I guess Skyrim is just very open minded about gender... except when making mannequins....)

Better check the bestiary on how to kill it.

I have replaced Man-Lydia with the far more attractive Mjoll. Now to see how much her dislike of the thieves guild interferes with my thieving missions 

I'm considering getting her too, if only to hand her over to the Blades later... Not sure. I guess one can't get them back from there...

I think you can. They're just in the new place rather than the old one.

Of course you can't get them back if you take them to that ...erm... other place.

Anyway, I was just gonna do a small thing before bed and... oops... better save the rest of that for tomorrow...

Is there any armour or item that'd help Lydia against shouts? As soon as we encounter draugr deathlords she's on her knees and I'm taking a beating, and they're usually not alone either. And in the place I went to, maybe that saviour's hide would be good only I think it has like half the armour of my current armour so is the extra magicka protection worth it?

Again, I'm saving it all for tomorrow... or later.

The ...erm... other place I was talking about is another quest/story where followers don't come back.
Forget I mentioned it.

And I don't think any armour protects from shouts. None that I've encountered anyway. The best tactic I've found is to hit them with a quick shorter shout before they can get all three words out.
