I don't have mannequins, but I do have a big pile of ash where Lydia used to be 

I have begun the Witcher 3 update.

Will report back later when it is done.
And then report if it still works.

I suspect things may have gone a little easier had I visited the Greybeards a bit sooner than I have. Now I know how to shout Muad'Dib or whatever it was they just taught me  Maybe Lydia wouldn't be a pile of ash now, if only I hadn't been distracted by looting everything everywhere

Hmm, a new launcher window thing just to add one more extra click. Lovely.
Menu still has "Continue" so my savegames are still there.

So let's get back to Skellige!

At 15 frames a second.
Into the settings we go.

After a bit of tweaking I can get it to vary between 16 and 50 but this inconsistent stuttering is unplayable.

Gonna have to go do some research to see if I can rescue this.

And now his hair's going black.

 

This is not working.
I've switched it down to DirectX 11 and put all the settings to Low (which is a lot worse than they were before) and it's still awful.
Think I'll be switching back to the previous version via that beta thing.

Edit: Is your game now so slow that Geralt is growing younger?

Banj, when you get a house in Riften you get a new housecarl. I don't like her. I'd send you mine, if I could. She yells a lot. (I think I will have to get her out of that house, somehow)

She doesn't shout at me.

I think Geralt's other white hairs are in the previous frames, I'm sure they'll load in a minute or two.
It's a very strange experience. I can't work out what's slowing things down, it's all so inconsistent.
I may try updating drivers before before completely abandoning the new version.

Even the game wikis say she shouts

Maybe I just don't listen.

Drivers now updated but it's still a struggle.
It's just about playable in most areas but I've still lost at least 10fps on the previous version and that's on worse settings so...
