It's a static - always open, though. Making those at the same time as I am making the animated version, but the animated ones just hints at the lid being lifted...

I have now managed to get the animated chest working. Not entirely sure how, possibly CK just needed a restart

But then I checked them in game and for some reason the open static chest doesn't have collision. So I checked it in nifskope because I distinctly remember adding collision, and sure enough it is there. It looks wrong, though, but all the same it should still prevent characters from walking straight through it.

It's all just weird. I think I need to sleep on it.

I've got seven horses carrying all kinds of useless stuff I've picked up over the years but not one of them has a Dwemer Gyro.
"Oh, but mudcrabs stole my satchel."
Well I'd better go looking for mudcrabs then.

Not seeing any satchel, although it is quite dark at the moment and what's that noise?
Oh, the mudcrabs were apparently friends with an Elder Dragon.

Edit: At least it wasn't an Ancient Dragon.
Even so, I killed it quicker than expected. I think those forgotten, unused perk points are finally helping me out a little with the levelled baddies. (But not those three bandits the other day. )
Anyway after much searching around with my torch up and down this river bank I did eventually find the satchel. It was nowhere near the mudcrabs!

I kept throwing hundreds of Dwemer Gyros away because I had so many of them and they appeared to be completely useless for anything and weigh a tonne 

Are those the animated things with a red glow, or just the boring sort of open spheres things? I think you only need one or a few? But the cogs you need 10 and they're heavy too... I don't usually bother even picking them up until they're required. (the animated things... something cores? maybe... I tend to pick up one or two and drop for decor in my homes )

They actually have some use? 

The cogs? I think it's the guy at the college of magic who wants them for his dwemer studies? Can't recall. Arniel or whatshisname.

I kind of remember someone wanting some of that stuff, I thought you meant they were actually used in the crafting of something or other.
