There is light. Just a bit too much from all directions and you can't turn it on or off as far as I know.
Do you have the bright light option switched on in the view menu?

Your own things *should* look the same... Maybe if I turn the chest around I'll find a shadow side :hmm:

And yes it fits into the farmhouse surrounding because it uses the same texture as farmhouse posts - apparently all orc furniture does :P (It's supposed to be an orc chest not farmhouse one...)

Edit: *sees Banj's post*
The eh... :dumb:
I guess I'll need to check?

OK so I ran the nif through the nif optimizer and now it seems to work again. Hopefully it STICKS this time.

As for the light, yes bright lights were on. You can toggle them with A in the render window but not the preview window, apparently. Or at least I never succeeded. But turning the bright light off makes things a bit too dark instead.

Time to test the chest in game. :stare:

I installed the CK the other day after my adventures in trying to log in to Nexusmods. There was much hunting for the required steam_api64.dll which it turned out I had several copies of. Haven't spent much time in it, I have no idea how to get the render window to do anything, but I did play around with watching character animations and looking at weapons and armour.

You need to load a cell in the render window... interior, exterior, new or whatever...

Ah yes, of course, load a cell into the render window... if only I knew how to do that

Sorry, I didn't want to assume you didn't know :dumb:
Under the render window you should have two other windows unless you moved things around. The first one lists worldspaces, interior cells being default and the second one lists items in the currently active cell.

To load a cell/interior you just doubleclick it in the list. Basically anything you touch might end up being moved one millimeter or something and hence, altered which will result in an asterisk after the name of cell and item(s). But either just don't save anything or make sure you don't have anything (skyrim or mods or other masters) set to active, because when you don't it will prompt you to save as a new esp - if you want to save your changes.
