Ooh, season two of The Diplomat is on Netflix too. :)

But I'm not watching it yet. I'm actually watching that Tomb Raider thing, mainly cos the episodes are short.
And like most of these Netflix animation things... It could do with more frames. And less grunting. :S

I've started on Lyida Poët. She's still enjoyable and I love her clothes and jewellery (especially the jewellery I think - it's pretty much all bugs; but she also has a lovely kimono). I think the actress is very pretty too but I keep getting the feeling they use a "blurry filter" in the close ups just to make her look "prettier" still. Maybe I'm imagining

Maybe she's just naturally blurry

 Possibly.

I just ended up watching an hour long documentary (I initially thought it was a 1 minute excerpt because it was inserted into a news article) about a "vampire" burial in Poland and the reconstruction of her face (by a Swedish er... reconstructor, no less). Possibly she was Swedish too. It was quite interesting; I had forgotten how good that particular series of documentaries can be. (Same series that once upon a time made me decide to be a palaeontologist - that it still exists more than 30 years later is testament to its quality, I guess, though it has had its ups and downs)

I realised that since I started watching Lidia Poët the other day I forgot to actually watch something halloweeny yesterday... So I tried a horror film called Nope, today. So far it's leaning towards a .... nope. It's slow and kind of dull so far...

It's slow but sort of interesting and then has an odd bit about a chimp.

I'm gonna save the last bit for tomorrow. It's weird, though. And slow. And the main character seems to walk even slower. He makes me frustrated.

Trying to get back into Nope. It's still slow. And none of them reacts or reasons like I would so it's hard to "get them" and what they do. Not sure I'll manage to finish it. Why was it interesting, Val? I don't find it interesting :pout:

Edit: finished it, with dinner. But I dunno... For an alien that alien looked rather artificial. And I know horror movies frequently don't show the whole thing or much at all, to increase tension and fear but I rather like seeing awesome designs. It did look cool there towards the end but still... artificial. Bedsheet level artificial.

I thought the premise of trying to film the UFO was an interesting one and I liked the overall mood as it systematically built towards the inevitable reveal. The chimp thing felt a bit forced in a contrivedly weird way and overall I don't remember it as a really good movie but I enjoyed the way that it didn't fit the typical genre of that subject matter and when movies do that you never really know where they're going which makes a nice change from the usual formulaic stuff where I know what's gonna happen and know when it's gonna happen.
So "interesting" rather than "good". :)
