Dang now I forgot how I "skinned" the thing... I do remember "Armature Deformation" and "Auto Weight Painting" or something like that but the shortcut key?
This is why I don't like watching all those videos that just mention the shortcut keys in a fraction of a second instead of telling you where you actually find the function in the menus! 
It wasn't Shift+A or S or C. Ctrl +P was for parenting...
Edit: And Ctrl + P was it... Unfortunately half the head moves with the ear. So that needs some tweaking...
