I got AXEL the ROCKER pod from a flower event! Good thing I caught him too, as I found the flowers just as they were despawning.

Do you have any lights?
The material preview uses its own lo-res HDR to make everything bright. You can also change that by clicking the down-arrow at top right next to those viewport buttons to open the settings.

Only the default one (that comes with the initial cube) so far. So yeah it's darker, but also seems grainier and dirtier...

Well, I first made a wall. It's just a vertical plane. That one is seen in the layout window. Then I made the table, the cloth and the plate and started on the gingerbread bits. All those show in all other windows but not in the layout window.

Which window have you been using for the screenshots?
