Hmm. The texturing seems unnecessarily complicated.

It'd be so much easier if I could just use the vertex colours like I did with the particles.

I have slowly, very slowly (did I mention it was slow?) worked my way through  this tutorial  three times now and finally, even though I don't understand any of it, I've got some hairs to pick up the colour from the UV texture map of the mesh using geometry nodes.
Yay. Sort of. It doesn't look like anything at all but it's a proof of concept at least.

And only now have I realised that the top comment on that video points out that you don't actually have to do any of that stuff.

Not having felt well enough to give HaveCraft the attention it deserves, I have (after 3 years or so) returned to my Founders' Fortune modding... 
I've done some kitchen cupboards that still need some stuff like pots or pans or something, added to them, but today I think I finished these...

Guess I'll need to update eventually. And learn where they moved various things to this time.

I think the biggest part of the update was adding Vulcan to (eventually) replace OpenGL.
