I tried to animate it last night. :giggle:
Wasn't that good but it was good fun. :)

I was gonna post it here for comedy value but I couldn't get the gif under 20MB which isn't an ideal size.

One of my frustrations with using procedural materials in Blender is that I've never managed to get the textures to "stick" to the surfaces once they become deformed or animated, although the frustration of UVs is much, much greater which is why I continue with this method instead.

Of course this doesn't matter too much when I keep the camera at a safe distance from my Godzilla/Dragon/Yeti/Orc etc. :P However it would be nice once in a while to be able to do a close up without the scales/pores/creases visibly floating across the skin.

BUT.... now I've just found out that I should have been using the Generated co-ordinates option instead of the Object co-ordinates.

Why didn't I know this before?
Maybe I did know this before and I've just forgotten. :dumb:

Must remember for next time.
Or maybe I'll just type it here so that I don't have to remember.

Whenever I try to follow a tutorial that has translucent shaders my effort always looks wildly different from theirs. :dunno:
I gave up and downloaded the completed assets and... it STILL looked different for me.

I must have something set up wrong in the render preferences. :S

I must

*flashback to 90 minutes ago*

I'm gonna try and do something without following a tutorial or watching a video. :woohoo:
I've thought about what I'm doing in advance and I have it all planned out and I really think it's going to go OK. :aha:

*back to the present*
:pout:
Well that was a complete waste of time! :rage:
Why is the transparency like that?
Why are they not rotating randomly?
Why is the...
Just... WHY???
