Love the hair - and I think that's the first time I've seen a dissolve brush used to convincingly provide texture to anything. There's some gorgeous sub surface scattering going on there too.

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

...to convincingly provide texture...

It didn't convince me as much as I would like but it sort of works.

I couldn't use my usual texture tricks for this because most of it was done in Android Sketchbook Pro (although I did have to do a quick 30mins of PC ArtRage work to clean up some edges cos I just can't do them on my tablet with my fat finger and those zigzagging issues that plague older touchscreens.)

And if anyone's interested this is the brush that I try to do textures with in Sketchbook along with the middle one on the row beneath (I used that one on parts of the background.)

...and yes, that is the older UI, I haven't updated it to the latest version. That one takes up even more of my precious storage and apparently lags a bit too. If it ain't broke... :)

Hmm, this could use some better edges around the eyes but all further attempts made it worse and that usually means I've had enough.

I think her eyes look nice, and especially like the colour variation in the skin around them. The swirly strokes in the background remins me of Edward Munch (you know, "the Scream").

She looks like she has very large lips though. I'm not sure if you're going for a caricature or if the ref had that... The rest of her doesn't really look caricaturized...

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

I agree about the lips. They do appear quite large. - But her left nostril also looks to be a bit low.

:cheer:
That's exactly what I was going for so I'm glad you mentioned it. I was thinking it could be a cold version of The Scream. Maybe called "The Shiver". :lol

Yes, I was exaggerating the features. As well as the lips, I made the face a bit rounder and tried to separate the eyes a little more. In fact that last choice was the one causing the problems. That edge from the nose to the brows was a little bothersome and still isn't right. :S

She looks suitably cold to me and the variation in skin tone is really very nice. Those big cold cheeks! I think that transition that you mention just needs to be a little softer.
