Nick's right and with proper shading it might look better - though I still think the "rise" you've painted the outline of so far indicates a very high skull - if it's going to be that high it would probably also be a bit wider, I think. (Making the whole head look a bit bigger.)

Yeah, it seems to be a thing I do to my female characters. I make the hair big and the noggin starts to look massive too!

I will put up an update, since I have blocked in a lot of the hair shape. Let me know what you think.




Also, I have put in the reference I am using to get the curls looking as right as I can!

Done a bit more on her hair. I have also corrected her face, as Charlotte suggested.

Going ok I think. Hair needs more detail, but the rest needs to be looked at before I get lost on the fun stuff!

Hair is looking great!

The detail of the hair is looking wonderful, though I'm still not keen on the "bulge" at the top. Maybe it's just 'cause I hate it when my hair looks like that (which it tends to do if I went to bed with wet hair - not that I have the amazing curls of Shakira, my hair is all straight and flat usually, so the "bulge" looks extra out of place )

So, did another simple line thingy and I hope you're not colourblind because if you are I chose the worst colours... Red lines show the "bulge" that I'm talking about and not liking, green how I think the hair should be wider... (As in the ref though the very top is cut off)



Also I don't even remember suggesting any changes to her face?

Where's the ref? I actually looked while at work, and was thinking I just couldn't see it at work? Must be a real tiny link.

Oh yeah. I just looked at the rather helpful critique post you left me, but I misunderstood what you were saying about the proportions of the face. You were talking about trying to work out where the top of the cranium was, so that I could work out the appropriate hair hight. I thought you were pointing out that the features were not central. So I moved them all to make them more symmetrical!

Is it ok if I like where the hair line is? I really do appreciate what you are saying and highly value your opinion, I really really do, but I kinda like the hair being high like that. It is an utter fantasy of course; it doesn't happen in the real world. But, I think the extra big bonce adds to the childlike character that I am going for.
