Valence:  Thank you, I had a blast tackling the lighting so I'm glad to hear that!

Charlotte:  Thanks, really glad to hear that!

There was some perspective errors on the latest image so I reworked it.  Hopefully it looks more natural now:    Next up is a portrait of Catwoman I finished based on the likeness of Zoe Kravitz.  Extremely happy with the likeness I achieved, and I aimed to give this a more colorful look compared to my previous depiction of her.  Any input on this image would be appreciated so if something feels off feel free to let me know!  Below is the current progress followed by the steps:

I kind of only know ZK as the daughter of Lenny K and Lisa Bonet. But anyhow, I think the hands (fingers) can use some work. The backs of the hands with sinews and knuckles look fine but the fingers are kind of tapering shapeless things with seemingly two joints rather than three in some cases. Especially the hand to our left could use more form to the silhouette and the claws made to look like they start at the middle of the third bit rather than right at the second joint (i.e. like nails do).

Can't say much about the likeness, as per above but her eyebrows look a bit asymmetrical, is that on purpose?

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

Charlotte:  Indeed, I'm not too familiar with the actress work, but she was great in 'The Batman' as Catwoman, very natural performance there.  I just refined the hands a bit, nothing too crazy but hopefully it's an improvement.  As for the eyebrows, initially I had them more symmetrical but I felt it gave her a bit of a lifeless look, so I raised one a bit to make her expression a bit more interesting.  Hopefully it doesn't look too unnatural!  Great input as always, thank you!

.......................

I refined the Catwoman piece a bit, I'm definitely calling it done now as I'm exhausted from working on it.  Pretty happy with how it turned out and am ready to move on to other pieces.

Next up is an illustration of 'Venom'.  This was a lot of fun to paint and draw and was fairly straightforward so the painting process went very smoothly.  I'm calling this one done as well unless there is something majorly off - if so please let me know!    Here are the steps:

 ...............

Finally I started working on a new image.  Going for an iconic feel with this one and am pretty happy with the composition.  I had a reference for the general pose which I tried to stay close to, you can view it here as well.  Before starting the painting process I wanted to hear input on the sketch just to make sure I get everything right early, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, I thought the venom pic was your reference image at first! Very 3-dimensional!

For the lion guy I'd take a second look at the hands (as usual). For the one to our left I feel we should see a glimpse of the top/back of the hand and for the other it doesn't quite seem to be in line with the lower arm.

Personally I might make a tiny adjustment to the chin too; I feel it hasn't quite captured that lion chin look. But then maybe that's not what you're going for anyway. (I think a lion has rounder ears for instance, and I do get that it's not a real lion stuffed in a two legged piece of armor :silly: )

Edit: This might explain what I mean, though I also doodled a bit over the face while procrastinating because I couldn't get the chin quite like I wanted, either...

I love the way the tongue breaks out of the frame of the Venom picture and there's a great use of specular highlights throughout the image.

Charlotte:  Thank you!  I'm happy with the rendering as well, so it's great to hear it works well!  Thanks for your input on the new image as well, really appreciate it and made the changes based on it as well, hopefully it's an improvement!

Valence:  Thank you, much appreciated!

I finished up the image, spent a ridiculous amount of time on this one but hopefully it was worth it.  There's still time to revise it if needed if something is especially off, so please let me know!  Below is the current preview followed by the steps for those interested.

I did some last minute tweaks to the image, basically upped the contrast on the clouds at the top of the illustration and refined the castle much more heavily for a cleaner look.  I'm exausted from working on this illustration, so unless something major is off I'll be calling it finished for now!  Any final input would be appreciated as always.

I like the way you handled the background here, in both versions. It looks realistic but is still subtle enough to not distract you from the main subject and, along with the composition and the pose, it's all reminiscent of a traditional style of portraiture in a Mona Lisa kind of way. :)

Valence:  Thank you, I really appreciate that, very honored and humbled that you would make a comparison to the Mona Lisa so your comment made my day, thank you for that!!

I began work on a new illustration after having a slight art block for a bit, but I got the inspiration going again thankfully.  I finished up the sketch, but before I begin painting it in I'd love to hear any feedback on if something is off or not working, so please let me know!  Below is the sketch:

I did some tweaks on the sketch to make it more dynamic and gave her wings, hopefully it's an improvement.  Any input is appreciated!
