Oh Banj, I forgot to ask - what have we been discussing regarding Palia that might be good to bring up in feedback? Besides all the building pieces that won't add up. I'll get to those. But I figure if we talked about decor or bugs or whatever, I might need a reminder :P

I've now played through the tutorial bit again on Havencraft, alpha 5. I like the new look for the villagers better but so far I haven't noticed all that much difference from before. They might have restructured the crafting stuff, not sure.

I still find it confusing to keep track of when to right click, left click and E click. Can I deselect something without selecting something else? (In the tool/item menu, 1-0) - Esc certainly doesn't work for that.

I'm also still finding it confusing - or perhaps more annoying now since I know what they mean - that when you craft or research something, it says a number on the left under a pic of the finished item but not on the right where it lists the "ingredients". (The left hand number is what is required of the right hand items.) But these things are things I've told them before, so

  • Different styles for crafting tables etc.
  • Better application of tinting things because most of it looks terrible when tinted anything but the original colours and a couple of the tint options (others have mentioned this on the steam forum).
  • Not discussed before, but make it so the stoopid cooking balloons showing what is needed and when things need stirring don't overlap each other and obscure that info (Not knowing the thing is already ruined because a balloon was over the other balloon hiding the fat it needed flipping  ). In fact much of the UI needs a rework, such as the annoying tiny little window you have to scroll through showing items in the storage when there's an entire screen worth of space that could be utilised sitting there doing nothing.
  • The bug with the end walls where you can't paint them or hang stuff on them
  • Building parts that can't be used together... oh.
  • The inability to pick up certain items from terrace pieces because their selection area is inside the terrace.
  • More options for rotation and placement of objects so that glitching things isn't necessary.
  • Why can't we place buildings on terraces?
  • Give me more storage space, MORE dammit
  • Increase the number of objects I can place
  • Give us actual water we can place.
  • Other stuff I can't even remember because my brian needs to store important things dammit

Thank you.

Now... that second point... is there a bit missing? I'm reading part of it as "A couple of the tint options" period. They what?

The third point, I haven't experienced (the balloons overlapping) but I can certainly include that with the other UI stuff. You also reminded me that I always have the last column of items cut off, when using crafters, so I can't see how many I have of some items.

When it comes to picking up items from terraces, have you tried raising the mousepointer instead of trying to grab the item base? Sometimes pointing in the air above something selects it, I've noticed. (But no, it's not intuitive...)

The more orientation options so we don't need glitching, item limits and storage space I have mentioned to them previously (and we just got more storage space... Perhaps you need to hoard less? ) but I'll be happy to mention the wish for water features we don't have to fake with rugs or tables.

I'm currently trying to watch TV with Merlin constantly interrupting but I'll try to get back to my feedback tomorrow

There isn't a bit missing, it was part of the same sentence... As in items only look ok in their original colours or a couple of the available tints leaving most of the tints useless and unused.

If you are cooking something with a large number of ingredients the balloons are huge and can end up obscured by other balloons from different crafting worktops so stirring and flipping counters can end up hidden (for example the one with the multiple fried onions and a couple of sauces, I forget the name).

I tried everything to pick up that snow, and so did you at the time

Stoopid hoarding

Ah now I see what you mean about the tints. As for the balloons, personally I tend to position myself so I can see when the "need to stir/flip" thing lights up. But like I said, I can still add it :)

As for the snow thing I only noticed the "hover above thing" after I messed up your yard.

After going through all that trouble to get my shop I forgot to make a note of where it actually was on the map and now that it no longer has a quest marker I ..erm.. can't find it.

It took quite a few laps of Hogsmeade for me to accidentally stumble upon it again. Right, look at the map and remember! :stare:

Meanwhile as I progress through the story and develop my "friendships" I'm getting that strange feeling that I may not be making the best choices. :S
In completely unrelated news, why are those Unforgivable Curses deemed to be so bad when they're so useful? I mean, sometimes they even ask me to use them but now they're all suddenly having regrets and acting as if it's my fault. :pout:

<rant>

While I think about it, and in relation to placing and manipulating items... Make the grid snapping a toggle that remembers it's last state. If I switch off the grid snapping, don't switch it back on the moment I go to place another object, it should remain off until I reactivate it myself.

And similarly, the current problem with it switching arrow/bomb types when you finish a stack of the selected one. If I selected one, I should continue using those as long as I have any in my inventory until I either run out completely, or I manually switch to a different type.
