I don't even remember this fight scene so maybe my sleepy blackout started earlier.

You saw as much of it as I did then, and I was awake 

I have now watched the recent Top Gun movie and who would have guessed that "Maverick" still doesn't like playing by the rules?

All the plane stuff was terrific and all the character stuff was unbearably cheesy. Oh, apart from the Val Kilmer bit. The way they handled that was surprisingly poignant.

And what Val Kilmer bit?
Maybe I shouldn't ask, as I haven't seen it. Not even sure it's available here.

I also haven't seen it. I may see it eventually, but I'm one of the few people on the planet that didn't particularly like Top Gun in the first place. I'm also one of the few people in the world that did like Days of Thunder and thought it was a more entertaining film 

I completely forgot it was the sequel to Top Gun. Which I've actually never seen.

I didn't like the original Top Gun either and everything you don't like about it is regurgitated in exactly the same way.

And Val Kilmer (the actor) can no longer talk due to heath issues, a bit like Bruce Willis, all of which is a bit sad no matter what you think of them. So Val Kilmer's character appears quite a lot through the film in background photos and vague references and you think that's all they're gonna do with him, but then they do give him a full scene with Tom Cruise and it's really well done and probably the best bit of the movie.

Oh I didn't know that about Kilmer (had heard about Willis)

Edit - and I didn't even know Kilmer was in Top Gun...  

Val Kilmer was Iceman. Not that that means anything to you as you haven't seen it 

I just sat through Ricky Gervais: Armageddon. Wasn't planning to, and it wasn't laugh-until-you-cry-funny, but it was still kind of funny here and there...

Guess it's back to the Rookie now. Or Skyrim.
